Back to Resident Life Nutrition & Dignity

Dining Experience

We believe every meal should be a dignified, enjoyable experience, carefully tailored to each resident's complex dietary and physical needs.

Culinary Care

Proper nutrition is a cornerstone of neurological care. Our registered dietitians work closely with the speech therapy and nursing teams to assess and manage safe swallowing protocols (dysphagia) while maintaining the flavor and presentation of the food.

  • Texture Modifications: From mechanically soft to pureed, dysphagia menus are prepared to guarantee safe swallowing without sacrificing taste or dignity.

  • Resident Choice Dining: We believe in autonomy and offer resident choice dining options, ensuring personal preferences are always respected.

  • Family Centered Events: Dining is a social experience, and we host regular family-centered dining events to maintain strong bonds over a great meal.

  • Adaptive Dining Rooms: Tables and spaces are natively designed to comfortably accommodate large power wheelchairs and adaptive feeding devices.

Social Dining

Meals are a central social hub, encouraging interaction and community building.

Managing Complex Nutrition

Neurological disorders often bring unpredictable dietary challenges. Our clinical dietitians continuously monitor resident weight, hydration, and lab panels to adjust meal plans proactively.

  • Enteral Feeding SupportExpert management of G-tubes and PEG tubes for residents who can no longer swallow safely.
  • High-Calorie FortificationSpecialized shakes and fortified meals to combat involuntary weight loss common in progressive conditions like ALS.
  • Hydration ProtocolsStructured fluid delivery schedules to prevent UTIs and maintain kidney function.

The Dining Environment

We offer flexibility in how and where residents take their meals. Whether mingling in the main hall or enjoying a quiet breakfast in bed, dignity remains the priority.

Main Dining Hall

A bright, open space designed for social interaction. Tables feature customized heights for wheelchair clearance, and staff is always present to offer immediate assistance as needed while letting residents maintain their independence to the highest degree.

In-Room Dining

For days when a resident isn't feeling up to a group setting, or if their medical condition requires it, meals are delivered hot to their room with the same presentation and care. Bedside tables are fully adjustable for comfort.

Breaking Bread Together

Food tastes better when shared with loved ones. We actively encourage family members to join residents for meals and special dining gatherings.
